Florida Wedding!

It's always great to get together with friends and enjoy a new union that God has blessed and brought together. We spent our labor day weekend in Florida at a friend's wedding. Here are a few pictures of our time there.

(This banner kept flying over during the wedding advertising free t-shirts. My wonderful husband did score us some awesome neon colored shirts!)

Bench Building

Last weekend Ryan was finally able to complete the bench that I have been wanting. I think it's going to go by the front door. He had some "help" building it! When it was all said and done Ryan said, " I can't wait until we have boys!"

Vacation!!

Ryan and I were able to get away a couple weeks ago and enjoy the peace and quite in this cute little cottage on the Comal River. We were only about 1.5 miles from Gruene so we spent some time there. We also did some shopping at some antique shops and the outlets in San Marcos. It was SO fun and so relaxing. It was just good to get away and to have time to ourselves, too. Here are some pictures from our great trip!

Entry Way

We have these "nooks" in the walls of our house. I am just not a fan. I recently thought about stenciling the backgrounds so I may do that on a couple of them. In the meantime, here is how the one in the entry way has ended up so far.

I still think it needs yellow. Mustard yellow in there somewhere. I just haven't found the right objects.

Throw Pillows

I needed new pillows. Well, not NEW ones, they could be old ones, too but I needed pillows. The guest bedroom just had one throw pillow (I guess they are called throw pillows because all you do is throw them on the floor, then throw them back on the bed) and for our little window seating area we needed pillows.

Off to Hobby Lobby I went to buy pillow forms. But do you know how much those things are?? $8!! Call me cheap, but I just didn't want to pay that for something I'm going to throw. I checked out the batting, but that was going to cost about the same so I just decided to head on over to Ross, Goodwill, and Target.

Let's start with Goodwill- while I do find lots of treasures here, I just couldn't make myself buy a used pillow that could have throw up, or dog pee, or any other nasty things on them.

Ross- The green pillows came from there. While they were target brand, they were only $2.75. I originally thought I'd use them in my classroom, but they quickly found their home on the window seat.

Target- Oh how I love Target! They rarely let me down. No crazy parking. No super long lines. No crazy dressed people. (Although, yesterday a guy came up to Ryan and said, "Hey man, you want some gum? I just put acid in it." Being the smart man that my husband is, he declined. Thank you WEIRDO for the gum offer!!) I went back to their home and garden section where they had their outdoor patio furniture. For $3 I could get a pillow and just recover it!! BINGO! I picked up 3, because that's all they had. Ha! I brought them home, sewed together some burlap and white fabric that I had left over.

Oh, I don't think I've shown this "love" sign, either. Made that cute little thing from the old fence wood that I picked up from the side of the street. Just used white craft paint, some nails, and those zig-zag picture frame holders.

New Bedding!

I know. I'm bad. We only had the other bedding for right at a year. But what was I thinking wanting dark stuff?? I have known for a long time I'm shabby chic and lights are totally my style. I lived with for a year. Who knows, maybe it will show up again some day. Anyway, here's the new bedding.

Towel Baskets!

We love our new house. We really do. But in the last month we have already found things we don't love so much. Like how our bathroom has no storage for towels. We have one towel rack. But just where are we to STORE the towels?? Thanks to Pinterest, I got this idea. I have had the idea and half of the supplies for a while, but just was not brave enough to drill more holes in the wall. (Last time, I'm pretty sure I made a hole about a 1/2 in. Thank you, Ryan, for fixing the curtain rod!)

So this is my solution. I'll show you a before and after. :) I got the rod at IKEA for about $2.50 and the baskets I searched for for FOREVER! (Seriously. I took my little tape measurer to all the stores. I hit jackpot on the baskets at TJ MAXX. $8 a piece! BINGO!

4th of July!!

This time last year we were in St. Lucia. I woke up this morning and thought that. I'm not sure ANY other 4th of July celebration will beat out private beach dinner between the Peton Mountains. It was just wonderful! But, the celebrating must go on! This is how we celebrated with family this year. It was delicious, hot, and filled with fun!

Today I am thankful that I have freedom to speak, write, and most importantly worship our living God!!

Valentine's Shirt and Bow

I pretty much got the most useful gift ever for Christmas--a sewing machine! I was counting down the days until I got that wonderful thing. I have used it for many things lately. It's a soothing hobby. Sewing machine, where have you been??

Here's my latest creation. I made it for a little girl for her birthday. It's not perfect. I'm still learning. But I will get better. The hair bow may be my favorite!
